Although every one of Taylor-Made Photography clients are special and unique in their own right here are some of the highlights of 2011:

New York City and Las Vegas was an amazing way to kick off the year and get those creative juices flowing for the year that lay ahead.

Receiving a Silver Distinction Award from the AIPP for my travel-book; New York Minute

Traveling to Fiji and Hamilton Island for my fun-loving Destination Wedding clients Paula and David and Dane and Liette and all the wonderful people I met in my travels.

Hosting the Soup Kitchen here in the Taylor-Made Photography studios where I got the chance to teach other like-minded photographer's tricks of the trade.

Going to South Australia for the annual AIPP event where I got the chance to update my skills in the industry.

Being featured in the Sydney Morning Herald's lifestyle section for Skye and Shane's Wedding, in addition to being featured in the infamous Ms Polka Dot Bride for Mia and Gary's gorgeous Wedding at the Vineyards in Bowral.

But in particular, we would like to say a big Thank You to all of YOU!

It is all our wonderful, dedicated and loyal clients who give us the chance to be creative and produce the work we do for you to savour all those special moments that will remain keepsakes in your home for many years ahead.

Paula and David's Pregnancy Shoot

Paula and David are such a pleasant, and charming couple to be around. The pair flew me all the way over to Fiji earlier this year to Photography their picturesque, waterfront ceremony. And now with time, the pair have again invited me into their lives to share yet another significant moment of their lives. Paula and David are expecting their first born within the next few weeks, so the pair welcomed me in to their family home to for a pregnancy shoot.

Their home was filled with an aura of excitement and content, as both Paula and David prepare for the newest edition to the Bourke family. Just have a look at the Photographs captured below. Friday's Tip: How to Prepare for a Taylor-Made Photography Shoot

Taylor-Made Photography are all about ensuring that our clients get a product that they are happy with and proud to hang up on their wall. Which is why we are doing a short series on how to prepare for your portrait session or Wedding shoot with Taylor-Made Photography. Today's useful tip when being photographed is Hair...

Hair

Hair can be a disaster in a photograph. This doubles in outdoor shoots (triples if there is a breeze.) For people with longer hair, make sure you have options for the photo shoot. If it’s extremely windy outside, a simple ponytail can keep the hair from flying in your face or looking like you’re stuck in a tornado.

Simple is always elegant.

If you want to up the class a bit, add a few curls to longer hair. If you’re using product, make sure it’s not too thick, in photographs it can make the hair look like a solid dark mass.

Have a brush handy. When you change positions or settings, give your hair a once over. If you take it down out of a pony tail, make sure you give it a thorough brushing so you can’t see where the elastic was holding your back.

Ann is a great example of how neat and tidy hair improves the quality of a shoot.

Wednesday's Tip: How to Prepare for a Taylor-Made Photography Shoot

Here at Taylor-Made Photography we are constantly asked what people should do to prepare for a shoot, whether it’s in the studio, on location or your Wedding Day we have got some useful tips and tricks to ensure you always photograph well in front of the camera.

1. Grooming

Good grooming can go a long way and can make you go from “eh, okay” to “wow, you’re stunning!” This is the area where people need to start, with sometimes a few days before the shoot and build up to the day of. Some quick and easy things to consider:

-Be aware of your face. This includes thinking about your skin; issues such as dry skin can be easily combated and assists in making you look wonderful. Tweezing eyebrows and removing unwanted facial hair is great. It means the photographer doesn’t have to digitally edit out each individual hair (and not all photographers are that dedicated, no woman wants a hairy upper lip).

-Also be aware of what will be shot. If your legs are going to be in the photographs, make sure they’ve been waxed or shaved a day or two ahead of time (unless you want some fuzzy legs!) If you shave them the day of, you might have broken out skin or redness from the razor and/or wax.

-Don’t forget your hands. I for one love a good close up of the hands. Nothing ruins the shot more than nails that haven’t been cleaned or clipped. It might even be worth bringing something to clean them when you get there (who knows what you’ll be handling leading up to the photo shoot.)

Black and White Photography

Taylor-Made Photography have always been strong believers in the artistic nature that is black and White Photography. Even in this digital world of ours where we are exposed to the most high-end of colour saturated gear, there comes a time in every shoot to have a play around with a timeless classic, our great, old friend, Black and White.

Black and White Photography has been apart of the Photography world since its inception. Even after coloured films were brought into the industry, the pure beauty, elegance and undeniable timelessness of Black and White photography will forever remain untouched.

Black and White Photography captures a deeper portrait than that of its colour counterpart, as they bring to life pieces of a photo that colours simply cannot. Black and White photography add a sense of romanticism, mood and interest to even the most ordinary of photograph.

Yuling and Ayhan; 10th of December, 2011

Yuling and Ayhan are quite the quirky couple, both being loud and vivacious and bursting with life. On Saturday the pair were married at The Observatory Hotel in Sydney which was shared with over 70 friends and family. The love that both Yuling and Ayhan share for each other was apparent at both the Ceremony and Reception with a few tears making their way to the surface. The couple surprised their guests with an authentic Turkish belly dancer who kept everyone entertained with her electric dance routines. A great day and night was had by all and we thank you both for letting us share with you such a momentous occasion.

Mitrevski Christening

Yesterday I photographed little Natasha's Christening held at the Macedonia Orthodox Church. The ceremony was spiritual and very traditional, with a handful of family and friends joining in on such a joyous occasion.

The Reception was held at the Ambrosia Seafood Restaurant in Lansvile. I've photographed many Mitrevski family events, that I too now feel apart of the family.

Ann & Allen; 12th of November, 2011

Ann and Allen are from Jordan and were married here in Sydney on the weekend. They chose Taylor-Made Photography to do their location photography around the city. Ann and Allen were such a pleasure to work with, and work really well with the camera. Ann surely has the Sex and The City look in the bag which catered well for the city locations we shot at... I photographed Andy and Judy's wedding in mid September and for their honeymoon, the couple went all over Europe, where they made some wonderful memories as newlyweds.

Their album design consultation was on Friday and the couple came bearing gifts, not only did they bring chocolate but whilst in Europe they found me a mini Nikon camera USB. My new favourite USB in the office! Just wanted to say Thank you Andy and Judy!

Nerida & Lyndon: 29th of October 2011

Nerida and Lyndon have being together for eight years, and earlier this year, Lyndon asked Nerida to be his wife. Both Nerida and Lyndon are caring and loving individuals who bring happiness and joy into each other's lives and all who have the pleasure of knowing them.

On Saturday they were married at the Holy Name of Mary Church in Hunter's Hill. Nothing could have wiped away Nerida's dazzling smile as she made her way down the aisle. After the heartfelt ceremony, we kept it local and photographed the pair in and around the Hunters Hill area before making our way to Cucinetta in Woolwich overlooking the Harbour and city skyline for the Reception.

A great night was had by all, with authentic Pestana table cheering, food and marvellous red wine served well into the night. A big thank you to Nerida and Lyndon and their families for letting us share in on a piece of their special day.

Daniel & Mandy: October 23rd, 2011

Dan and Mandy are two of the loveliest individuals one will ever meet, and on Sunday under the big fig tree on Observatory Hill the two were married. The expression on Dan's face as Mandy got out of that white Mustang, and began her way down the elegant red carpet, explained the myriad of ways he adores Mandy. The sun was glistening over the Harbour as the pair exchanged their vows as family and friends bare witnessed.

The Reception was held at the Mandalay in Lane Cove and each table was dressed with home-made ornaments created by Mandy and her Bridesmaids. Sunday was such a lovely day for all, and I hope you both have a great time in the States!

Oula and Alex are previous portrait clients of mine and a couple who I fell instantly in-love with. They are both just so down-to-earth, fun-loving individuals who love to make the most of every day.

On Sunday I was lucky enough to share in on their special day as they were married under the beautiful sunshine in the Botanical Gardens overlooking Sydney Harbour. The sun was not the only thing shining bright on this momentous occasion as Oula and Alex exchanged vows and became Mr and Mrs Cummings.

The Reception was held at the Taronga Centre with impressive views overlooking Sydney’s skyline. The Reception was full of colourful music, with enticing beats and a bunch of keen dance enthusiasts who kept the party rolling well into the night.

Congratulations Oula and Alex, I look forward to designing your album when you return home from your honeymoon.

Patane Christening

Lisa and Eric were recently blessed with a gorgeous pair of twins named Natalie and Olivia. This weekend they were Baptised at St Anne's Catholic Church in South Strathfield. Geraldine and Peter's Wedding

Geraldine and Peter are such a young, free spirited couple. On Saturday, Geraldine looked spectacular in her stylish and modern wedding dress, while Peter looked handsome all dressed up for their special day. Their ceremony was held at Lewisham's Maternal Heart of Mary's parish which allowed for some great photo ops inside and out.

After the ceremony, we took to the streets of Surry Hills and the Rocks with the Bridal Party. And just as the sun was setting we made it to Observatory Hill where everything looked like gold, bride and groom included. Just look at how beautiful the photos turned out.

The Reception was held at Doltone House which was elegantly dressed, with an engaging accordion player as entertainment. The speeches were hilarious, and both the Goti and Farac family's sure know how to party, with the dance floor getting a real work out well into the night. A big thank you to both Geraldine and Peter for letting us share in a piece of their special day.

This weekend I was lucky enough to be the Wedding Photographer for such a pleasant couple, Mia and Gary for their ceremony in Bowral.

Since neither the Bride nor Groom were from Bowral, Mia took advantage of Bowral’s finest Country House and Day Spa Milton Park. Dressed to the nines in boutique furniture, and fixtures, surrounded by acres and acres of gardens, hedges and the greenest of sceneries, Milton Park should be on every Bride’s wish list.

The service was held at St Jude's Anglican, which is located just off the main Road of Bowral. The church was cosy and filled with family and friends who came to witness this highly warm and affectionate service.

Just after the ceremony, we headed off to another of Bowral’s finer venues, Centenial Vineyards just as the afternoon sun was beginning to set, which made perfect for warm, springtime photography. The reception shortly followed in yet another elegantly dressed room, with each table lit with Candles and guest names in the form of cookies and colourful frosting. The speeches were warm and at times a little teary, but the highlight of the night was Mia’s song to Gary that she had wrote on guitar.

This weekend I was honoured to be apart of Andy and Judy's Tea Ceremony. For prosperity, Andy and Judy had to hold their Tea Ceremony a few weeks prior to their Wedding date as the moons were not aligned, being a strong tradition of their heritage. Judy was glowing in her Red Traditional Gown, while Andy had fun with the games played to prove his love before being allowed into the house. This weekend we were treated to be apart of the Wedding Ceremony of Katrina and Anthony Musumeli held at the Santa Sabina College Chapel in Strathfield (the same place where the bride went to school). The Ceremony was quite traditional with a full house of family and friends alike turning out to bare witness to this rather heart-felt celebration. Just the way Katrina calls Anthony "buddy" makes anyone think that the pair were made for each other. David Bailey inspired pregnancy portrait

Ann recently came to me wanting some images during her pregnancy, she is an attractive Asian mother to be with great poise and style and she just knows how to work in front of the camera. David Bailey has been one of my inspirations during my own career and during this shoot his style in my opinion was certainly being channelled through the images taken. I love the simplicity of Black & White images with plain back grounds, to me the subject and the mood become the most important thing.

How cute is little Benjamin with his Mum Hawon. Like many of our clients the Lee family chose to do an on location shoot at our favourite park Dame Edith Walker Reserve here in Concord. Benjamin is one of a kind, as most babies only give the photographer two seconds worth of smiles. Benjamin on the other hand, was just full of smiles.

AIPP Awards 2011

Congratulations are in order for Darren on his latest success within the Australian Photography Industry. As you are aware Darren entered his photography book New York Minute into the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) annual competition and has come out with a Silver Distinction Award.

This is a great achievement as Darren was up against some of Australia's finest photographers. To come out with a Silver Award in both Travel and Photographic Book category is something worth celebrating over.

A New York Minute

Earlier this year Darren took his camera on a trip to New York for just one week and photographed the city and all of its simplicities. On returning home Darren designed a book of his travels to the Big Apple called New York minute. He entered it into the Momento photo Book Competition. A few weeks later he got a phone call from the judges explaining that his book was named one of this year’s finalists, which really, comes as no surprise. Anyone familiar with Darren’s work understands his ability to take mundane things such as a leaf floating in a grubby puddle and turning it into an artistic masterpiece. His book, A New York minute is an accomplishment in itself and is yet another piece of work to add to his successes. Check out A New York Minute here.

Apart from being so obviously in love with each other what impressed me most with Mia and Gary was how naturally relaxed they are in front of the camera.. with great personal style and lovely expressions they managed to carry the shoot so well and I am so looking forward to creating some great images at their wedding. Which will be held at the Centennial Vineyards in the Southern Highlands of Bowral this coming September. It is such a privilege for Sydney wedding Photographer Taylor-made photography to photograph country weddings and Bowral is such a wonderful destination.

Matt and Chheng's wedding day

Matt and Chheng had an incredible wedding day filled with tradition and emotion. Chheng looked amazing in each of her wedding dresses and Matt was truly the handsome groom. The day started with the Chinese tradition of the Groom arriving at the Brides home to barter for her hand, generally this means passing money through the door before the bridesmaids will let him in. From there the western ceremony was held at the picturesque Observatory Hill.

Later the guest dined on 10 courses of traditional Chinese food at the Crystal Palace reception centre.

Elizabeth and Matt's wedding day.

Elizabeth and Matt's friday wedding was a blast to photograph, they are such a great couple, easy going and relaxed. They had the perfect wedding day and i remembered thinking that it doesn't get any better than this. Wonderful weather with awesome lighting, a fun bridal party that were happy to do what ever it takes to get a great picture and a couple who just look fantastic in every image.
The ceremony location at Observatory hill was as always picture perfect, what was special for Matt and Elizabeth was that two of their cousins were able to perform the music during the ceremony although the double bass was a bit of a handful to get up there.
What was also cool was getting to the reception at La Aqua in Darling Harbour to be greeted by two couples whose weddings i had shot more than a few years ago, Pip and Shaun and Katie and Kent who remembered me and still love their own wedding photos. It was wonderful to see them again.

The weather was beautiful yesterday afternoon at Nelson park where i photographed Matt and Chheng's pre wedding session. This was a special location for them as it was one of the first places they went on a date to. Apparently Matt was quite romantic bring Gerber's and tea lights to set the mood. Matt and Chheng are a lovely couple who seem to be so suited to each other, they changed their wedding date from Saturday to Sunday so i could shoot their wedding as i was away in Fiji to photographing Paula and Davids wedding and that was really nice of them.
As the photos show Matt was like Tarzan picking Chheng up with one hand to save her from a freak wave that had come in.

and some times when the heavens open up and we get six weeks worth of rain in one day, every one is going to get a little wet but by choosing a professional experienced wedding photographer and having a little fun with it everything will turn out OK.

Miho and lydia's wedding

Today’s wedding with Miho and Lydia was a little different, the Bride wore blue and the bridesmaids white. The day started early at the Intercontinental hotel and even though it was raining pretty heavily I knew we were going to have a fun day. It was very pleasing for Sydney’s wedding photographer Taylor-made photography to be commissioned to record this wedding. Lydia looked amazing in her dress, which was finished off beautiful with a Swarovsky pendant and earrings. Married earlier in the year this was their celebration for their Sydney friends and family. We managed to create a range of really nice pictures in the Botanical Gardens before the rain really became to drenching and we finished of their shoot at the very nice Aqua Dining where they were to have lunch with their 40 odd guests.
The day ran so smoothly mainly due to the diligent work of our event coordinator and good friend Jennifer Michaels. It was great to see her again.

Mother's Day

I created this lovely portrait of Patrick and his mother at Ameila and John's wedding yesterday and it reminded me that mothers day is soon approaching and how wonderful and important it is to have a memorable portrait with your mum. You only have one mum and the images I have of my mother mean the world to me. There is no better reason than mothers day to have a portrait commissioned.

Friday is a such a nice day to have a wedding, every one loves a day off from the routine of the working week and what better excuse than a wedding. Although a little cloudy and a bit rainy Ameila and John never stopped laughing and having the best time. The ceremony was held at the sacred Heart church in Mosman by a close family friend and so the message of love and marriage was a very personal one for them mixed with humor and emotion. Although the speeches were probably a bit more emotional from all the wonderful participants judging by the amount of tears that flowed. The Gunners Barracks tea rooms is such a wonderful venue with an amazing view complemented by fine food and wonderful service. Ameila and John's wedding was such a wonderful privilege for Sydney wedding photographer Taylor-made Photography to be involved with.

Adriana and Paul's Wedding day

Adriana and Paul had a fantastic wedding on Saturday here is a sneak peak at some of their more artistic images we here at Sydney's Taylor-made Photography were able to produce.
Paul and Adriana are a lovely couple and it was a real privilege to photograph their wedding. We knew it was going to be a romantic day with Adriana getting ready at the "Amore" Hotel and there were plenty of smiles, laughs and tears. It was full of surprises as well, Paul had arrange big guy and Lazy J from last seasons x factor tv show to serenade them during the reception which was an outstanding success.

Shooting pre wedding portraits for me has always been an enjoyable experience because its a great way to connect with couples, learn how they feel about each other, help them over come any fears or anxiety they might have. It can be pretty intimidating being in front of a camera for the first time and this type of shoot not only serves to alleviate those concerns but helps the couple gain confidence in my artistic and photographic abilities. Dane and Liette are a fantastic and very much in love couple who will be having their wedding on Hamilton Island in a few short months. It is always such a lovely compliment to be chosen to photograph weddings in far off places.

Driveline Magazine shoot

On occasions I photograph for Drive line Magazine which is a magazine devoted to the trucking industry. I like photographing editorial work with the different challenges compared to photographing weddings. Yesterday I met a great guy Billy Bastian who operates with his father a water cart hire company. Basically on building sites and road works the dust has to be settled and they use water carts with sprayers to keep the dust manageable. They recently purchased a Mercedes truck which Billy says rides just as well as his ML320 and it was my job to photograph him and the truck in action for the article.

Tarisse and Sarrita King Aboriginal Artists

Recently I had the wonderful opportunity to meet and photograph Tarisse and Sarrita King. They are both the rising stars of Indigenous Australian art and are highly regarded by the Aboriginal art community. Tarisse captures a complex and varied soul of the land and is very much influenced by her also notable artist father William King.
Sarrita's inspiration is the amazing environment she grew up within the Northern Territory, from the big rains to the lightning storms and the constantly changing earth.
The pair work from their fathers studio in Adelaide and it was great to be able to photograph them in front of their art works. In fact by chance after the shoot as they left in the elevator they happened to sell one of the paintings to one of the other business owners in the building.

Alisters first birthday

I had photographed An and Kit's wedding a few years ago and today they celebrated the first birthday of their son Alister with a family photo shoot. It was great to see them both again and Alister was such a joy to photograph. He has got some lovely expressions and he is just so engaging.

Angela and Ariel's fairytale wedding day began with Angela's romantic journey to the Our lady of Victories church in Horsley Park by Horse and Carriage. Angela and Ariel are a very lovely and kind couple whose wedding was a privileged for Sydney wedding photographers Taylor-Made Photography to be apart of. Angela looked fantastic and Ariel very handsome and they were so much fun to photograph, they were both so natural in front of the camera.
Their reception which was held at the always delightful Conca dore lounge in Riverwood was full of great food, entertainment and excitement, it was great to see Mark, Lenny and Phillipo again.

Shane and Skye met eight years ago at a popular Eastern suburbs watering hole and on Saturday Sydney wedding Photography Taylor- made Photography had the privileged to photograph their wedding. Skye and Shane are very much a fun couple, Shane is always telling jokes and having a laugh. Its so infectious. Their ceremony was held at Our lady of the sacred heart in Randwick which was also the same church that Skye's parents were also married in about thirty years previous. Their reception was held at the Sebel pier one which is a lovely harbour side venue.

Seems like every one is having a baby and we have seen at Sydney child photographer Taylor-made Photography a big up swing in couples wanting great images of their new off spring. Little Baby Ethan was a delight to photograph even though he is only 4 days old. He is so cute !! He was a bit grisly but still we managed to get some lovely images. As always it was a privilege to be one of the first photography professionals to capture a little bit of Ethan's history.

With the economy again looking promising next year and now with many more businesses putting emphasis on personal relationships and contact through blogs and facebook we at wedding photography Sydney Taylor-made Photography have been asked to photograph more and more head shot portraits. Yesterday I photographed my friend Ali from Blue slate Media for one of her new business developments. Gabby and Martin's wedding day

Gabby and Martin are a great young local Concord couple who met during their university days. Gabby looked amazing on her day and she was just radiating joy and happiness. Martin of course was the dashing Groom as well. They were married at the aptly named St Martin's church in Killara and the reception was at the always enjoyable and stylish Mandalay reception center in Lane Cove.
One of my favorite shots is of Gabby looking out of the window of the hire car, the organist was running late due to the traffic and Gabby could not walk down the isle with out music so the priest had asked me to stall for a bit of time. This gave me the opportunity to create a series of stylish and emotional images. You can read so many things in Gabby's expression.

Adriana and Paul

Adriana and Paul's pre wedding shoot was a lot of joy, we met at a homestead near Concord and right from the beginning I could tell that they were very much in love with each other. The soft kiss the way they hold hands and their relaxed natures. We had a lot of fun discussing their wedding which will be held next March in Abbotsford and i think their wedding will be lots of smiles happiness and great photo opportunities.

Skye and Shane are having their wedding in a couple of weeks and recently i had the opportunity to photograph their pre wedding shoot. We met down at the Rocks and right from the word go it was going to be lots of laughs and jokes. Shane and Skye had met at a popular Eastern Suburbs beach side pub when Shane had travelled from Ireland on holidays. Love at first sight perhaps!

With a group of 11 people and a break in the rain we decided to move from the studio to a location shoot to photograph the Ippolito family. As it turned out we got about 15 minutes in to the shoot before the heavens opened up again but in that time we managed to get some great images.

The question that most Bride and Grooms ask me is "what happens if it rains?"

This is when choosing a professional wedding photographer with years of experience is the best decision you can make. Its true on a wedding day you only have one chance to get it right and when the weather doesn't want to play ball then it is going to come down to the photographers skill, experience and flexibility to still get great images of your wedding. Uncle Joe with a good camera is just not going to cut it when the heavens open up.
Like all seasoned wedding photographers I love the challenge of a rainy day and see a rainy day as an opportunity to create arty and memorable images for my couples also the light on a rainy is just so flattering and beautiful.

John and Christina's Wedding day

John and Christina's not so typical Greek wedding yesterday was such a joy to photograph. Simple, stylish and intimate but also full of fun and laughter. They celebrated their marriage at the Greek orthodox church in Mascot and their lovely reception was held at the popular and funky Bel Mondo where the staff are friendly and efficient. I had photographed Christina's sister Pan's wedding a few years ago and it was great to see all the family again.

I had the pleasure on Sunday to meet up and photograph the Micos family again, this time the occasion was Ya Ya's 70th Birthday which was celebrated at the Coast restaurant in Darling Harbor.
Who would believe she is 7o, looking great and feeling fantastic.
It is always a lot of fun to catch up with past wedding clients and the Micos family are such lovely people, in fact as it turns out I will be seeing them all again on Sunday for John and Christina's wedding.

My friend Debbie is a fantastic spin instructor at fitness first in North Strathfield, She really knows how to motivate and encourage people to become the best they can be. She wanted some pics of her doing the class, i must say it was quite an intense class, so many sweaty bodies. Every one was on a high though after the session. Next time I have a free thursday i am going to take the class it looked like so much fun.

Katrina and David had a very different themed wedding based on a Mid summer nights dream. All the wedding guests as well as the bridal party were all dressed in period costumes and the venue Fountaindale Grand Manor near Bowral in the Southern Highlands was the perfect place to hold this wonderful wedding day. Katrina and David are great people and we hit it off from the first meeting. It was a real pleasure to photograph their special day and meet some of their lovely friends and family.

Adam and Anastasia's wedding

Anastasia looked amazing, radiant and beautiful in her Steven Khalil wedding dress and Adam as handsome as I have ever seen him. Anastasia was truly the Greek Godess, calm relaxed and happy. She has this amazing smile that radiates the room and she made photographing her so easy. Adam and I play OZ tag and touch football together and it was a privilege to photograph my friends wedding day. We had such a fun day, it was great to be at a wedding with so many familiar faces and both Anastasia and Adam have very loving and caring families.
The ceremony was held at St Spiridon church in Kingsford and the reception was held at the always spectacular Doltone House at Prymont. The room was one of the most beautifully presented and decorated venues I have ever seen.
Adam's speech was great, heartfelt, emotional and delivered with humour and sincerity. He had the whole room captivated. His Greek dancing wasn't bad either especially the drunken man dance which is always one of the highlights of a Greek wedding.

Mel and Jason

It was a pleasure to photograph Melanie and Jason's wedding yesterday, they are such a great couple with a lovely group of friends.
Their wedding was held at the Chinese gardens in Darling harbour which is a very beautiful and serene venue with lovely photo opportunities. Large bridal parties seem to becoming more fashionable again with jason and Mel having 5 attendants each which always makes for a lively and fun day. The day seemed to go by quite quickly which i suppose is a good indication of how much fun we were all having, although there were a few tears during the ceremony.
Their stylish reception was held at La Aqua in Darling Harbour where the view, decor and service is fantastic.

Anushka and Jimmy

Anushka and Jimmy are a great couple whose wedding i have photographed today. Blessed with perfect weather this couple were a delight to photograph always smiling and happy they made my job all the more pleasurable. Their ceremony was held at Eden Gardens and was conducted by my good friend Nicole who has become one of Sydney's more accomplished marriage celebrants.
Their reception is at the always popular Waterview reception in Bicentennial Park.

Andy and Flora's wedding day

There are so many great traditions that are unique to Chinese weddings, one is where the groom has to go through a set of crazy tasks to win the hand of the bride on the morning of the wedding. First he must bater or pay his way in to the house of the bride and then the bridesmaids set him a series of challenges. Andy's first task was to eat raw onions, wipe his face in vasoline and then rub his face in cotton wool as you would expect the result was hilarious. He also did something sweet to win the bride which was quite touching and made Flora feel really special. Together with the groomsmen he sang her favourite song with accompanying guitar and piano.
Their day did start quite early and the photo shoot was taken before the ceremony which was held at Little Bay, we travelled to Watsons bay and to Darling point with out any trouble because of the Sydney running festival and their reception was held at the Stanford Hotel at Mascot.

Lara and Robert's wedding

Lara and Robert are a lovely couple whose wedding we also shot on Saturday, they are such great people and it was fun to be a part of their special day. There must have been 50 or so friends and family at Lara's home to wish her good luck which made the atmosphere warm and electric. Lara is so photogenic and she just radiated beauty all day. Robert was very handsome as well. Their church service was held at St Josephs in Croydon and their reception for over 200 was held at the Vaudeville reception centre.
We found a lovely photo location on Macquarie street in the city that had a rustic tuscan feel and some of the pictures taken there are just awesome. Then we went to wedding central at observatory hill and judging by the amount of wedding parties there if you didn't have a wedding to shoot on Saturday your marketing is just not working. It was wall to wall brides. We managed to stay away from the crowd and do out own thing which was good.

Rowena and Ray

It is just amazing how time flies, it only seems like yesterday that Rowena was the high school baby sitter earning a few extra dollars on a Saturday night taking care of Taylor and Dillon while I was away shooting weddings and this week end it was her turn to be married. With guest from interstate and overseas last week end was the only available weekend in the future where everyones schedule lined up. So in 4 months this lovely wedding was organized with out a hiccup and with military precision. Rowena looked amazing and was very much the beautiful bride and of course her groom very dashing, their nuptials where celebrated in Watson's Bay and their gorgeous reception was held at the always elegant Intercontinental Hotel. It was such a fun day which is always the case with a big bridal party and Rowena and her family added many personal touches to the wedding as well from flowers to waist coats which is always such a satisfying feeling.

Melanie and Jason are a lovely couple whose wedding I am photographing on a Friday in a few weeks. Friday weddings are always so much fun, i think it is because people really love to have a day off from work because of a wedding. Even with the rain this morning we had a fun time shooting around the rocks area.

Maroubra school

It was a wonderful shoot this morning with the kids from year 6 of Maroubra primary school. It is a tradition at the school for the leaving year six kids to have their group pictures taken on the beach, the kids were very well behaved and the teachers and parent helpers did a fantastic job keeping all the kids in line and excited, together we got some great pictures. They each all had a lot of fun with the shoot and these kids were awesome to work with.

Veils

Some modern brides feel that a veil is a bridal accessory that is well to traditional and something that is not necessary. They are going for a specific fashion look that suits them which is all good of course as you have to do what suits you and the look that you want achieve.
But from a photography point of view you cant beat a veil. They just add so much shape to the images, they are great for hiding things that may be less flattering and they give the bride something to touch and hold which helps again to shape to the body.
When the veil is caught in the wind remarkable pictures can happen and sometimes these pictures become the hero images of the whole album.
